The “Non-Draconian Remnants” (NPCs) represent various people and powers of Sigma Draconis Remnants that are not played by an actual player, but might be at times by a staff member.
Sigma Draconis Remnants uses the excellent NPC Provider mod by the even-more-excellent Bookburner. It has a number of novel features and interactions that you may be unfamiliar with, and thus we provide the following overview of how to get the most of the NPC-related gameplay that is available.
Each of the worlds of Remnants (excluding the blackholes) represent a valuable resource for the NPC faction that currently controls it, increasing their overall prosperity and force projection capability within a planetary sector. As well, non-planetary areas that are otherwise valuable (such as an asteroid cloud) may act as territories unto themselves, and likewise be targets for capture and exploitation.
Trade stations will be controlled by whichever NPC faction controls the territory that the station is within, affecting what is available to buy and sell. If a menace like Clan Severin controls a territory, trade stations will be non-functional and raided-out.
Additionally, random spawns within a specific territory will be heavily influenced by its current status. If a hostile group controls a territory, it will be inherently more dangerous for you to travel or operate there, whether that hostile group be the marauder menace of Clan Severin, or a civilized NPC faction you have predated upon and become enemies of.
The Major NPC Powers of Remnants include [TEMC] the Ember Concord, and [CSPT] the Core Sector Protectorate. They are “civilized” factions that begin neutral to all parties, but given that CSPT and TEMC are frequently at odds with each other it may be hard as a player faction to keep good relations with both powers simultaneously.
Take care- If you choose to become enemies of both CSPT and TEMC, you will effectively lock yourself out of most trade and mission gameplay.
With the reawakening of the Sigma Draconians (players), both CSPT and TEMC recognize the incredible strength they can leverage against one another if they are able to bring Draconians to their side of the conflict. This takes the form of the Mission System, where players are offered a dynamic variety of missions with different types.
Completing missions will reward you in credits, reputation, and will effect the overall economic and/or military strength of NPC factions in the sector.
To seek out a Mission, head to either of the CSPT or TEMC HQs; or the Babylon or Voyager Space Stations.

The vile Clan Severin is beyond reason or diplomacy. They are the eternal enemies of all who are not Clan Severin, and their numbers are dangerously large. Fortunately, their own madness makes them disorganized and prone to reckless military action.
In places where Draconians (players) are unable to assist CSPT and/or TEMC in claiming a territory, Clan Severin will hold dominion, offering only violence and no quarter to any they encounter. This makes attempting to live or operate within those areas exceptionally dangerous.
Left unchecked, Clan Severin will continue to expand from their home in Omicron, through the Fringe, and potentially into the Core Sector.
To take territory from Clan Severin (or whomever else holds it) players must seek and complete dangerous Siege Missions available from either CSPT or TEMC, at either of their Headquarters or the Babylon or Voyager Space Stations.
When you start a siege mission you need to be able to jump from the mission start location to the mission objective in a single jump or else the mission objective GPS will disappear.
In all parts of Sigma Draconis Remnants, you will encounter potential dynamic spawns. These are NPC entities that will be spawned in physical relation to currently-online players. This means that if you are for example in a group playing in a concentrated location, and happen to be the only ones online, your group will see all of the potential spawns occuring around your position. If you are also in an area controlled by Clan Severin (or another NPC group you've made yourself the enemy of) this can make things quite dangerous for you.
Take careful note of what areas are controlled by which NPC groups before deciding what to do within those areas to control your exposure to risk according to your preference.
