All factions of a nation are allied with eachother.
The Nation system is our way of giving players the ability to belong to something larger than themselves, while also having more choice in the roleplay opportunities that are available to them. Like popular MMOs and the Expanse RPG, players can now choose their Nationality and background - Giving you the opportunity to work together with new players and belong to something greater than yourself.
The Nation system will be particularly helpful to solo and smaller factions because if you join a Nation, around 1 ⁄ 3 of the server will be friendly with you by default, and it will give you the opportunity to trade/learn/and cooperate with a bigger group of players.
Functionally - The Nation system is based on the Crunch Alliance plugin with some additional commands and functionality added to customize it for the Draconis Expanse server. The Nations are just mega alliances that are admin controlled.
To join a Nation a leader of a faction must type !nation join <Nation tag>
, for example !nation join OPA
- once that command is run every player in that faction will be automatically added to that Nation and all other factions in that Nation will be friendly (green).
Once a faction joins a Nation they gain access to the Nation HQ, and are no longer targeted by the Nation's home NPCs or territory radar. They also gain access to Nation/Alliance chat - a private in-game chat channel for the Nation members.
To leave a Nation a leader in the faction must type !nation leave <Nation tag> - once a faction leaves every member of their faction is placed on a 7 day cooldown before they can join another Nation. This is tracked by player ID not by faction, you cannot leave your faction and create a new one to get around it. Additionally - if any member in your faction is on a cooldown your faction cannot join a Nation until it is up.
!nation join <xxx>
- Must be run by a leader puts your faction in that nation!nation leave <xxx>
- Must be run by a leader boots your faction from that nation and starts cooldown on all members in faction!nation list
- lists all nations!nation info <xxx>
- lists info about that nation!al chat
or !a
- puts you in nation/alliance chat
Each Nation has a homeworld. UN has Earth, MCR has Mars and OPA has Ceres, these homeworlds have a Nation HQ in orbit near them. This Nation HQ is the heart of each Nation, and additionally they have special perks for each Nation, the first being a discount on the conversion of their Nations Tech. Additional perks may be added as the Nation system continues to grow and develop.
- Each HQ has a safezone around it that only lets in the players in that Nation. It updates automatically every restart, so if you join a Nation, you will have to wait for the next restart to be added to the safezone whitelist.
- Each HQ has a Beratnas gas store that will buy ice boxes and convert it to Fuel Tanks and Jerry Cans for the nation. Nations are responsible for supplying their own ice boxes to make fuel.

At your Nations HQ you will receive a discount on the conversion of your Nations tech (MCRN scrap, UNN scrap, High Tech Scrap) each discount is unique to the Nation it is for and is subject to change in the future for balancing.
- MCRN - 10%
- UNN - 15%
- OPA - 30%
The Homeworlds of each Nation also have a Territory around them, with that Territory comes a 350km Nation Radar, centered on the homeworld. Whenever an enemy grid enters your Territory Radar, every member of your Nation gets a HUD GPS with that grid's location. It updates every 30 seconds. Each Nation's Radar extends almost to the sector edge and covers the whole sector.
The Territory also contains the Nations NPCs - and they will spawn on hostile grids and players and attack them, but will leave friendly players and grids alone. Understand that exploiting friendly NPCs is a violation of the servers rules and will result in punishment or ban.
Inside the home planet sector for each Nation (Earth, Mars, Ceres) players can access the Nation Shipyard. It is a plugin that semi-instantaneously can print ships within that sector. It costs 1 billion SC per 1000 blocks and you must bring the components.
How it works:
!shipyard start [name of base grid]
!shipyard info
- your grid will appear in the list if finished!shipyard claim [# of grid]
within 5km of start positionThe nation shipyard does not retain any CustomData or LCD content the blueprint had. This is a bug that's being looked into.
An unclaimed ship blocks usage for your whole faction, and only the player who started the print can run the command to claim it.
When typing the command, you don't escape the name of the grid similar to other escape sequences used (i.e. for remote fixship'ing).
Example: !shipyard start "My Grid Name"
returns Server: Name does not Validate, try again. but doing !shipyard start My Grid Name
works as one might expect.
When you join a Nation you get access to Nation chat (alliance chat) - a private in-game chat channel for the Nation members allowing them to coordinate in-game without non-citizens seeing the messages.
Additionally, players may choose to create more opportunities for cooperation like Nation Discord Servers. Keep in mind it is NOT required to join these, and they are not moderated by the Sigma Draconis admin team - so being a part of them is a choice. You can be a productive member of your Nation without having to do anything outside of in-game actions. No one can kick you out of a Nation, but nobody is required to assist you or help you either.
You do not have to join a Nation, it is not required in any way. You will lose access to some gameplay loops, but will have the freedom to form relationships with different nations factions individually that may not be possible for Nation-members.
Short answer - No.
Long Answer - There is no proprietary information to share that would not have been already available to that person if they are sharing it. If YOU as a player choose to share YOUR assets, YOUR blueprints, or YOUR base locations with people in your Nation that is YOUR choice and the admins will not be moderating on it.
If someone is griefing IN-GAME (ramming friendly grids, blocking trade connectors on purpose, etc), then admins will step in.
No. One of our main objectives is to help relieve overpopulation of the high speed areas by offering relatively safe places to live for Nation members (because of radar and friendly NPCs) around their homeworlds. If you want to raid an enemy territory you are more than welcome to, but you will be on radar.
Already stated above but if you can’t read - 350km radar centered on Nation homeworld, sends a gps to all members in the nation of any enemy grids in the territory every 30s.
