The Special Designation System

Special Designations are a system of special interaction and mechanical purpose. Each Special Designation has a different purpose, different responsibilities and obligations, and different requirements and methods for attaining. However, most carry some very interesting benefits that open up a world of gameplay possibilities, as well.

A player may only ever have one Special Designation at a time.

These Special Designations are not meant to be an all-encompassing set of gameplay niches, but instead serve specific roles. To apply for a designation, you should review and prepare the requirements for that designation before pulling a ticket to begin the process.

In many aspects of the Special Designations, it falls to the player to prove certain events or identities. **It is not allowed to attempt to defraud or scam these mechanics.** Anyone found doing so will receive a lifetime ban from any Special Designations, or other metagame features, as well as a server ban that can be appealed after 30 days.

Pilots of the Primary Assistance League are trusted refuel, repair, and planetary extraction experts certified by ACME as trustworthy to provide their service. They are tasked with assisting other Engineers, especially new arrivals to the sector.

Requirements to Apply:

  • A Pilot may be either Affiliated with a Nation or Independent.
  • A Pilot must have a vessel capable of performing PAL-related work. This means a single vessel capable of refilling H2 tanks, charging batteries, and transporting other grids.
  • A Pilot must pay 30 million credits for registration, and 30 million credits every month while a member of the Primary Assistance League.

Obligations for Primary Assistance League Pilots:

  • A PAL Pilot is expected to maintain availability of PAL services. If a PAL pilot passes a period of 30 days without completing a PAL job, they will be removed from PAL.
  • A PAL Pilot that wrongfully harms the subject of a PAL service will be at risk of removal from PAL, dependent on the specific circumstances. An accidental damage that is repaired brings no risk for the PAL Pilot.
  • A PAL Pilot is expected to maintain a balance in their wallet to cover monthly dues. If a PAL Pilot's personal wallet is not sufficient to cover dues at time of withdraw, they will be removed from PAL.

Privileges for Primary Assistance League Pilots:

  • PAL pilots receive Asset Insurance for their PAL-related vessel. At initial acceptance of application, the Pilot may submit their required vessel for insurance. Once per month, a Pilot has an opportunity to update their insured vessel. If a vessel is destroyed or heavily damaged while performing valid PAL duties recorded in #pal-assistance-request, it will be replaced in whole by Asset Insurance, and the remaining wreck removed. This benefit triggers a 72 hour cooldown between uses. Be sure to collect evidence to support your insurance claim! This vessel may not be armed with any weapons or warheads. Shields and designators are allowed.
  • PAL pilots can take and complete PAL jobs and be paid for their work. All Draconis Engineers enjoy the ability to request PAL assistance free of charge once a week. These jobs are paid for by ACME. For Engineers currently on “cooldown” from an ACME-sponsored request, PAL jobs may be paid by any willing party.

Interaction with the Mercenary Guild

  • A PAL Pilot operating on a job recorded in #pal-assistance-request, that is wrongfully harmed by another party, if they can prove both the identity and intention to destroy, will receive the benefit of a Contract being placed with the Mercenary Guild on their behalf targetting the perpetrator. This may only be triggered following a validated Insurance claim for the Pilot.
  • To enjoy this benefit, a PAL Pilot must be broadcasting to a minimum of 15km before the attack began. The text of the broadcast must begin with `PAL PROTECTED`
  • All burden of proof, including showing the proper beacon range, is on the PAL Pilot to provide to receive this benefit.
